Many CEOs would like to know the right things to ask when evaluating the performance
of their training departments.  Although this is not the complete list of areas we
evaluate with a Training Physical, it is a good start to decide how urgently you need to
contact us.

If you find that even more than two of these items are missing, then the health
of your training department and ultimately your company is at risk and we
encourage you to contact us soon!
  • Is there a written Strategic Training Plan for the fiscal year available to review?

  • Does the head of Training review and monitor the Training Budget monthly?

  • Are there Staff Development plans in place for the employees in the training department?

  • Does the head of Training meet at least monthly with all Senior Management for updates
    and changes to the training plan?

  • Does Training produce at least quarterly an summary of the Return on Investment being
    made in the training function?

  • Is the training offered to employees available in a variety of learning methods like
    Classroom, eLearning, Online/Virtual/Webinars, and Social Media?

  • Is all training/learning tracked through a Learning Management System (LMS)?

  • Do you conduct a independent evaluation/audit of the training function for productivity and
    effectiveness?

  • Do you have an independent agent like your purchasing department review all training
    vendor contracts?

  • Are all training events evaluated beyond satisfaction into learning acquired and applied?

  • Are your training materials current and designed for adult learners?

  • Is Senior Management actively involved in the learning and training process?
